This little baby skunk taxidermy piece is officially finished!! I was contacted a few months ago asking if I would mount a baby skunk as a taxidermy piece, preferably in a curled sleeping position, and it has been a lot of fun to give this little girl some life back! She was sent to me already having been skinned and dried, and if you swipe through the photos you can see some behind the scenes of what went into this, from finished piece backwards to what she looked like when I received her. I did not have a carcass to mold a form from, so I traced the shape and size of her skin, and carved the body form myself, with many adjustments along the way. She is so precious, and her fur is sooo soft! I’m very happy with how she came out, and I can’t wait until she gets to go to her new forever home!🖤
(I acknowledge that I am not a professional taxidermist and I am self taught, mostly with animals in good enough condition that I find on the roadsides. I am still learning and practicing, so I don’t really take on taxidermy commissions often. If you do like my work so far, you can always contact me to discuss any taxidermy-related ideas for commission pieces you might be interested in, though! Taxidermy is a very different kind of work compared to bone cleaning and articulation, but I love to be able to give these animals respect and love through as many forms as I can.)
*This is a commission I recently finished. This taxidermy piece is not for sale. Please do not use my photos without permission, and do not tag my posts with “dead shit”, as I find it very inappropriate. Thank you!
Sam, are you KIDDING ME. I DIDNT REALIZE THAT WAS TAXIDERMY UNTIL I READ THE POST AKDGJAGSJDA
